Research on screen time
I have always had a passion for reading, writing, and illustrating. This form of expression has been an escape from all electronics since I was younger and screens were just being introduced and a way for me to share my creativity with my community. Enthusiastic to create, I began to build Fresh Off The Shelf.
As society developed and screens became more prevalent, I was eager to learn more about this topic. This study’s motivation was out of pure curiosity; I wanted to learn more about the lasting impact of screens on youth and what could be done to combat this issue. Fresh Off The Shelf is apart of the solution and a way to share the effects of excessive technology use. In the future, I hope to expand the horizons of Fresh Off The Shelf and offer many opportunities for students of all ages.
Our mission is to Inspire, Empower, and Create.

My Story
Hey! Welcome to Fresh Off The Shelf. My name is Shruthi Kotha and I am originally from the Bay Area. Currently, I am a freshman at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, studying Operations and Information Management in the Isenberg School of Management.
Ever since I can remember, I have always loved writing and creating. I channeled my passion for the creative arts into publishing, which has been a rollercoaster. I have learned so many new things along the way and I wanted to share my love for literature and art with everyone.
Fresh Off The Shelf was created by the simple idea to showcase my publications, but as I went on to expand this space, I wanted to address a problem among the youth in my generation. Screens. The main culprit of most health problems, including eyesight, headaches, irregular sleep patterns and many more. I have conducted extensive research based on this significant issue, and it has led me to a viable solution that is accessible to many.
Fresh Off The Shelf is a platform where like-minded individuals can come together and discuss new books. In addition to this, there will be group oriented projects and opportunities for students. Every month, we will pick a new book to read and discuss at the next monthly meeting! Suggestions are always welcome and appreciated :)
